Holiday Workshop Planned
A Children’s Holiday Workshop will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 21 and 22 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days at Mountainside Market just west of Sperryville. Children can make ornaments and gifts as well as decorate wrapping paper and make cards.
There will also be gifts availalble for sale by local children and artisans. Proceeds will go toward a local home school association. For additional information call Maureen Day at 937-4920.
Adult Education Survey
The Rappahannock County Public School plan to offer adult education classes beginning in January, 1997. A survey is now being conducted to determine the types of classes to be offered. Anyone wishing to contribute their opinion or teach classes are encouraged to contact Jeanie Dwyer at 987-8773.
Open House Slated
Equine Reproduction Concepts, a full service equine reproduction facility .'ill host an open house and grand opening from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 4 and 5. Slide presentations will be at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Winter Solstice Celebration
Friends of Gala presents a Winter Solstice Celebration on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 8 p.m. at the Community Center just outside Washington.
Festivities will include a mask theatre production of ‘The Psyche Circus”; a piece choreographed by Kipi Doyle for her Dance Place student entitled “The Black Dance”; a new dance choreographed by Linda Ramer entitled Gai Ramma Janna plus food, dancing and music. Admission is $5 per person.
Wakefield To Present Holiday Play
Wakefield School in The Plains will present the play Miracle on Friday, Dec. 20, at 7 p.m. in the school gym. Miracle features student actors from the eighth through twelfth grade and is a celebration of the miracles, mystery, and merriment of the holiday'season in both the Jewish and Christian traditions.
The play was written by Wakefield’s Upper School facutly member Tutt Stapp-Harris and is based on Howard Schwartz’ Nest Year in Jerusalem and a story by Paul Gallico. Miracle includes the performance of original songs and adaptations of 15th century music, as sung by the group “Nowell Sing We Clear”
Wakefield’s Art Department created sets for the production, and students designed their own costumes.
The show is suitable for all ages. Admission is free, and the public is cordially invited to attend.
Special Bingo Planned
A special bingo will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21 at the Castleton Volunteer Fire Department. For more information call 9373076.
Apple Butter Available
The Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department made apple butter over the weekend and it is now available at the cost of $16 a gallon or $4 a quart. All proceeds will benefit the fire department. To get yours call Jeff at 636-3279 or 635-5482.
Champagne Open House
The Oasis Winery will be hosting the Champagne open house on Dec. 21. This open house will feature all the Oasis sparkling wines available to taste including their Internationally acclaimed Cuvee D’ Or. Complimentary Virginia-made specialty gourmet Hor’s D’eouvres will accompany all tastings.
