Other residents such as Bob Lindquist, Billy and William Smoot and Karen ~ Bear also spoke agaihst the proposed changes and against parts of the regulation already in existence that they felt were 4 unfair.
The board’s decision to change the standards was unanimous.
In other board business:
• The board heard a proposal from the Sperryville Gateway Committee for the county to enter into a grant match for the purpose of making improvements to the Main Street area and the footbridge in Sperryville and for the construction of a bike path. The committee wants to make a grant proposal for TEA-21 funds. The total project estimate is $650,000. Of that, 20 percent would be matching funds or $130,000. The county has already set aside $10,000 for the Gateway project, the group expects to get $25,000 in donations and suggested using $80,000 from the VDOT Six Year Road Plan. The remaining $15,000 they were requesting from the county.
