CHANGE
Those who are faced with the loss of a loved one should recognize that death is part of our ever changing lives. A retrospective look at our lives shows that we are regularly called upon to adapt to changes. We lose our youth, we go on to face broken relationships, divorce, empty nests, lost jobs, and altered health. In each case, we are called to recognize change and adapt to it. In the case of death, we cope by grieving. As Thomas Carlisle opined. "To-day is not yesterday. We ourselves change. How then, can our works and thoughts, if they are always to be the fittest, continue always the same? Change, indeed, is painful, yet ever needful.”
