Speaking with Mike Massie after his announcement that he would not run again for the job of supervisor was like going fishing.
It was fun, but the fish weren’t biting much.
Massie, 43, did not want to discuss a number of political topics, and was reserved about his personal life.
Over the years, he has spent years working on the Board of Supervisors, the planning commission and numerous other agricultural and philanthropic boards. Massie is planning to retire from numerous other boards, as well.
Sitting on a leather sofa in the study of the spacious home his grandfather built near Massie’s Comer— the home he grew up in — he talked about wanting to spend more time with his children and on his farm.
Massie said he was giving early notice that he would not be in the running in November so people have time to consider the position. At no time did he plan to resign
