Location & Design Section
Assists survey engineer by resolving survey related construction problems; coordinates with inspection personnel and/or contractors, & monitors contractor compliance. Coordinates & supervises existing staff and construction stakeouts of roads, bridges & large drainage structures. Handles and coordinates design/survey functions in preparation for pre-construction conferences: review plan assembly of computer stakeout reports & survey reference data for completeness & accuracy prior to submission to the contractor, attend scoping meetings, performs regular field inspections and attend conferences. Provides training as needed. Manages the survey location of drainfields & to resolve any issues that arise. Performs other survey duties as needed. Must have a thorough knowledge of highway construction/survey techniques & expertise in highway design standards and applications. Skilled in the use of computers, including CADD. Ability to manage complex survey projects; work with & supervise others; monitor contractors; analyze situations & develop collaborative resolutions; provide training; read & interpret highway plans & survey documents. A VA Land Surveyor’s License or SIT certification is desirable. Salary: $33,811 - $52,787.
