Two of New York’s celebrated jazz guitarists return to open the new season at The Theatre at Washington on Sept. 9. Gene Bertoncini and Frank Vignola, who played to a packed house at The Theatre last December, will again join forces for an evening of jazz solos and duos.
The program will be introduced by Randall Kremer of the Smithsonian Institution.
An eloquent and versatile improviser, Gene Bertoncini has been heard with an extraordinary range of jazz greats, including performances and recordings with Benny Goodman, Buddy Rich, and Wayne Shorter. He recently released a striking new CD on Ambient Records, Body and Soul. Earlier this year he performed music from this CD at the New England Conservatory's Williams Hall.
