Brockovich, a legal secretary without formal training, leads the charge against the utility corporation, supported by a phlegmatic middle-aged lawyer (Albert Finney) and by her lover (Aaron Eckhart), a hippie-biker dreamboat, bearded but beerless, who takes care of Erin's <;hildren while she's out harranguing everybody. Soderbergh's direction goes straight as an arrow, and the movie, though obvious, crude, and even bullying, is raflishly enjoyable and touching.
RAAC presents this movie at 8 p.m., Friday, September 8 at The Theatre on Gay Street. With its crackeijack dialogue, colorful characters and substantive story, "Erin Brockovich" could be a revelation for teens. Only the profanity earns the R rating in this thoroughly enjoyable movie.
