This upbeat, inspirational melodrama, based on a true story and directed by Steven Soderbergh, is brought to life by a star on a heavenly rampage.

Julie swings into rooms ablaze with indignation, her body bulging out of her skimpy clothing and rants at the people gaping at her. She s a moral heroine with no sense of propriety- Ralph Nader crossed with Jesse Ventura.

Like "A Civil Action" and "The Insider," the movie exposes corporate malfeasance - in this case, that of Pacific Gas & Electric, which, for years, dumped a lethal chemical called Chromium 6 at its plant in Hinkley, Calif.; the families who lived nearby were diagnosed with multiple cancers.
