OF FEELINGS
The intense feelings of grief may be overwhelming and frightening, especially if one is not aware that these reactions are normal. The initial shock may be compounded by the fact that many feelings arise at the same time. The emotional floodgates may burst to release a torrent of feelings that can range from anger, guilt, and self-blame to longing, loneliness, sadness, and even relief in the case of long illness. This may seem like too much to endure at once, which might lead some to suppress emotions for fear of losing control. It is important to stress that feeling our emotions is crucial to moving forward through the grief process. If we cut off our emotions, healing will not follow.
One way we can help is to assure those who come to us that the roller coaster ride of grief is completely normal. We understand that one moment you are fine, and another moment, you feel just overwhelmed. So it is with us all when facing severe loss. At the MOSER FUNERAL HOME, 233 Broadview Ave..
