In the two years since this dance, Mariah Dean has been leading the Sufi dancing, also known as the Dances of Universal Peace, here in Rappahannock County. Karen Loving of the Healing Arts Center has been the organizing force.
The dances are held at the Washington Tbwn Hall on Gay Street, a fine place to dance. Most dance in socks or, weather permitting, barefoot.
For the next three months, on the third Friday of each month from 7-9 p.m. — March 21, April 18, May 16 and June 20 — Dean will lead more dances. The dances are accompanied by live music.
