Book signing March 28
Judith Richards Hope joins the growing list of Rappahannock County authors with her newly published book, “Pinstripes & Pearls: The Women of the Harvard Law School Class of ‘64 Who Forged an Old-Girl Network and Paved the Way for Future Generations.” Ms. Hope, who has a home near Flint Hill and practices law in Washington, D.C., will discuss and sign her new book at the Old Sperryville Bookshop on Friday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. For reservations, 987-8444.
Civil War discussion
Civil War historian Chuck Mauro will speak on Tuesday, March 18 at the Blue Ridge Civil War Round Table program from 7:30-9 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Library. He will present an analysis of the Battle of Chantilly (fought at Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax) and discuss local battlefield preservation issues. Everyone is invited. College information night
Rappahannock County High School will sponsor a College Information Night for parents and students (grades 9 through 12) on Tuesday, March 18 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the school auditorium and room 15 computer lab.

Town meeting on March 20
A Town Meeting will be held on Thursday, March 20 at 7 p.m. to discuss the future of education in Rappahannock County. Sponsored by the schools and Headwaters, the program will be held in the high school band room. Everyone is invited. Contestants needed
The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department is seeking young women to represent the fire department at various functions: Little Miss (ages 1-6); Junior Miss (ages 7-14) and honorary fire chief (ages 15-21). Those wishing to compete are invited to a meeting at the fire department at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19. Winners will be crowned at the carnival which is June 11-14. Babysitting classes offered
The Rappahannock 4-H program is offering a Super Sitter class for youths aged 12 and older. The program will be at the Rappahannock office of the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service on Saturday, April 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The class will provide participants with many of the things they should consider when working with children.
