Despite what modem culture
and the media promote in regard to teenage sexual behavior, there is a growing number of young people in Rappahannock County and across the country who are choosing a different path.
At the Ninth Annual True Love Waits party on March 2 at the Washington Baptist Church Hall, 55 teens were present for fun, great food, and the truth about sex before and after marriage.
The message heard by the teens and some parents was that it is possible (no matter what age the person is) to embrace abstinence before marriage.
The main speaker, Rev. Jon Heddleston of Reynolds Baptist Church in Sperryville, also told the teens that they can meet the challenge of the highest ideal — to remain clean (pure) with God’s aid even if they have failed in this in the past.
As a result, he said that they would be free from the fear of the over 50 sexually transmitted diseases today, and not be frustrated by dreams that are lost because of a pregnancy.
An entertaining skit was put on by Rev. Heddleston and his wife, April, concerning oneliners commonly heard in premarital sexual encounters.
