higher and higher last Thursday, the Aileen Plant temporarily closed da;wn at 2:30 p.m. Unfortunately the flood waters had only a little to do with it. Plant manager Charles Currence said Tuesday that the plant was closed Thursday afternoon until Tuesday morning. “Things have been a little slow,” he said. “The firm has been doing a little bit of adjusting. Our outlet stores across the country have been hit by bad weather and sales are down,” he said. “We expect to bounce back.”
Animal shelter manager Lisa Reid and other representatives of the Rappahannock Animal Welfare League told the Board of Supervisors last week that the county’s payment only covers about one-third of the cost of operating the shelter.
The Rev. Jennings Hobson III lead a dedication service for a new flagpole at the library last Saturday. The flagpole has been set in place in honor of the late Ike Parrish, who was active in civic affairs for decades in Rappahannock County.
