Volunteerism is alive and well in Rappahannock County.
The Washington Baptist Church’s Men’s Brotherhood program has been active for over 20 years providing service to the community and the world.
Under the direction of Bill Welch for much of that time, these men and boys have built an outhouse for a needy family who had no running water, restored a porch for a handicapped person, and placed plastic over windows of homes without insulated glass.
They have helped provide transportation for people who needed that help and donated financial support for many in crisis.
They also have traveled to Lake Sunappe, N. H. to help a fellow Baptist church move out of a trailer into a building of its own.
They have helped the Conemaugh Valley Baptist Association in Philipsburg, Pa., renovate a donated Jewish synagogue into a Christian worship center.
