The budget request is $42,620 higher than the superintendent’s estimate in February, due in part to a request for a music teacher position budgeted at $47,614 per year.
Chappell is calling for a 3.5 percent increase in the base salary for the school system’s 167 employees, and a 1.5 percent longevity step raise. The additional cost would be $312,000.
