The Centex proposal was a blockbuster. After ail, the “Disney America” proposal for the Haymarket area back in 1994 was for 2,500 homes and 2.0 milhon square feet of commercial space. Tysons Comer had 1.9 milhon square feet in its mall.
The upshot of all this was that Centex and the Culpeper County Planning Department have worked together over the last three and three-quarter years to whittle things down to what will come up for a vote on April 6.
Centex’s rezoning application is for 766 homes, plus eight Habitat for Humanity lots, and 398,000 square feet of retail and office /employment space.
