When I first joined the
infamous Rappnet listserv, I enjoyed the break from the usual noisy debates by what I thought was a grade school girl’s poetry. But, this illusion was destroyed when she once poured her heart out about her divorce and pain of being middle-aged.
Though, seeming to be attempts at public exposition of self-realization, Joy Lorien’s compositions actually read like the meanderings of an adolescent.
In the July 1 article, “The Joys of Lorien,” I appreciate the admission that her grammar is poor; it is often terrible. I appreciate the admission of narcissism. She is correct; her discourses read as self-serving. I hope that she has the desire to improve these problems. At most, she
