Rev. Peter Weems, the new Methodist minister in Flint Hill, says that, when he was growing up, he was a rebel. He moved from job to job, and travelled around, not settling down permanently at anything. The Inn at Little Washington was painted in record time on July 3 only to have owners Patrick O’Connell and Reinhardt Lynch decide on July 4 that the shade on their restaurant was decidedly different from the sample on the can. The building will be repainted again. To avoid the same mistake, Lynch and O’Connell have turned a side of The Inn into a rainbow, trying samples of half a dozen hues. Use tender loving care with handling peaches. They are ready to eat when they feel barely soft. Let firm ones soften at room temperature, uncovered. Store soft ones in the refrigerator. Remember, when buying peaches in quantity, use soft peaches first. Sort carefully since spoilage spreads rapidly.
