The old Grigsby place on the Richmond Road near Hitt’s Garage, containing 161 acres, has recently been purchased by Mr. Thomas Bradley of Washington, D.C. The old residence, part of which is a hewn log construction, is believed to be among the oldest structures in the area. Though the outside is now covered with frame siding the interior has very low ceilings with hewn roof rafters put together with crude wooden pins. The large field stone chimney is built with claiy mortar.

Gwendolyn H. Hammond, an Amissville landowner who lives in Washington, D.C., has billed the Rappahannock Supervisors $9,000 for unauthorized use of her property as a site for county dumpsters. In a letter read at the July 5 board meeting, Mrs. Hammond charged that placement of the 11 dumpsters for 30 months had caused the property to deteriorate.
