Rappahannock than most have assumed. Already, there are as many as 75 households from the county that are getting assistance from the Fauquier County-based group.
That number may triple if a new food bank is opened in Rappahannock, according to Tom Benjamin, executive director of the Warrenton-based Commonwealth CAP.
Marie Davis of Rappahannock’s Department of Social Services said that they have seem an increase in persons asking for food. What used to be one family per week seeking assistance is now throe to five families per week, according to Davis.
Free and reduced lunches at the schools an* up from last year too. School officials say that 30 percent of students have applied for the program, up from 24 percent last year.
