Recalling and recording *The Glen Rock Book of the Dead" was “surprisingly pleasurable, considering it’s a sad thing that all of these people are dead,” says Winik. “I worked on the book very early in the morning almost even,’ day from February to September of 2007. It was really like spending time with the person and thinking about the person and the person's life and my relationship with them. Writing this book has been a chance to hang out with my friends."
Winik lives in Baltimore with her daughter, Jane, and her dachshund, Beau, and teaches writing in the MFA program in Creative Writing and Publishing Arts at the University of Baltimore.
