No more water
What better way to cut the budget than to start with water. With the implicit assumption that the Town’s tap water may not be good enough for even prisoners of the jail, several county offices, including the jail, have been allocated a total of $2,600 per year for bottled water and the rental of cooler stands for dispensing.
Nobody present seemed to know when the practice started, but Diane Bruce - Circuit Court Clerk - suggested it was the last time the town fiddled with the water pipes and the water turned red.
This may not bode well as the town is about to fiddle in a major way with the entire system and add a new wastewater system to boot.
The board agreed that it was a minor amount in the overall county budget, but they had to start making cuts in next year’s budget somewhere.
