Budget cutting
The Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors thinks
water coolers for county employees and inmates at the
jail is a non-essential expense. People don’t need water, they can bnng their own. Inmates can drink tap water as part of their punishment.
So the board decided at its Monday meeting to strike water from next year’s budget. „ This opens up a whole realm of possibilities in budget cutting. Toilet paper? Bring your own. Tissues too. How about pens, pencils, paper clips, staples, paper. That’s what Office Depot is for. Go get it yourself . Heck, bring your own desk and chair. Or, even better, get rid of the offices altogether and have everyone work at home. That would save oodles of money.
Don’t need a jail either. Put GPS ankle bracelets on everyone and keep them under house arrest. They can “incarcerate at home.”
How about no county government at all? That way we wouldn’t have to worry about losing water coolers or any other “miscellaneous” budget line items at all.
Forget VDOT, There isn’t a hollow or road in the county that doesn’t have someone with a plow, a truck and an unemployed redneck/ Put ’em to work.
Yes, but what about a comprehensive plan you say. We don’t need one. The economy is»so bad we don’t have to worry about over development. There are empty buildings all over the county.
And if you’re well liked with lots of money, you get to do what you want anyway.

Private charities, churches and benevolent ones are taking care of social services and the needy, just like the Bush administration said we should do.
Okay, what about courts? Schools? Simple enough, let other counties take care of them. Judges are from Fauquier anyway , and -student enrollment is dropping quicker than Obama nominees with tax “issues” because Rappahannock is already a • retirement community. Who needs a bunch of loud and obnoxious children around?
Our fire departments are all volunteer, let’s make the Sheriffs department volunteer too. Just like the old days with maybe a little vigilante justice thrown in for good measure.
Heck, while were at it, let’s just toss out all the laws too! Four hundred years ago this was frontier country and they didn’t have any back then. And since we’re all about going back to nature and sustainability, this will work out just fine.
That should about do it we think. And it all started with water coolers.
