To Amend County Budget

In accordance with §15.2-2507 of the Code of Virginia, the Rappahannock County Bodfd of Supervisors shall hold a publichearing on Thursday. February 12, 2(X)9 at the Courthouse in Washington. Virginia at 7:00PM, to consider amending the Rappahannock County Budget for fiscal year 2009 to authorize the expenditure of up to $980.000 for the purchase from Peter Kramer of the Washington Arts Building, located in the northwest comer of Gay and Jett Streets in the Town of Washington.

The budget amendment to be considered is to amend Category 4302, Maintenance of Buildings and Grounds. Line item 7009. Acquisition and Alteration, by increasing the total amount currently authorized for expenditure from $70.000 to $1,050,000. If such an amendment is made, the Board will then appropriate an amount not to exceed $980,000 to pay the purchase price of $975,000. plus closing costs.

This amendment will allow for the purchase of the Washington Arts Building, which currently houses several government offices, and will be altered over time to accommodate other Rappahannock County government offices located elsewhere in the Town of Washington. The funds to be expended have been accumulated by the County over four fiscal years for the purchase and development of new office space, and do not require new tax revenues.
