Feb. 7: Book Bam
On Saturday, Feb. 7, the Book Bam will open its monthly Silent Auction. Offered this month are : ‘Breakfast, Dinner and Tea. Viewed Classically, Poetically*and Practically,' written in 1860 (a first edition). Opening bid $100. Next is a 'Pictorial History of the American Indians,' 1956 edition, minimum bid $5. ‘A Horizon History of Africa.' 1971, a large beautiful book, opens at $5. Finally, The MacMillan Encyclopedia of Earth Science,' two volumes, 1996 edition. Opening bid is $10 for the set. The bam is adjacent to the Rappahannock Library. All proceeds go to the library. Come to the Book Bam any Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Feb. 8: Music contest
Rappahannock County Public Schools, Wakefield Country Day School and Hearthstone School will be represented at the annual Rappahannock Lions Club Bland Music Contest on Sunday. Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. at The Theatre on Gay Street in Washington. Fifteen students in grades 1-12 will participate in the judged contest in voice, trumpet, piano, flute, saxophone or clarinet. The public is invited. Free.
