Last week, users of Piedmont Broadband - a wireless Internet service first introduced by former Rappahannock County resident Tom Gordon through his company eOffice, later reformed with new ownership - noticed they could no longer sign on.
There were some baffled postings on Rappnet (the county’s email list serve or Internet bulletin board) about the loss of service.
There was a message that was forwarded from Piedmont that cited “technical issues.” Another email said the issue was “due to a major electrical/ server equipment snafu.”
Eventually, the Rappahannock News learned that the “technical issues” coincided with two events: Tom Gordon - a shareholder and member of the board at Piedmont - requested on Monday that the Sheriff’s Office enforce a stay away order to prevent Rich Shoemaker - president and majority stockholder — from gaining access to proper
