With regard to Shoemaker’s charge of disconnecting Piedmont’s access to the Internet, Gordon said, “I haven’t lockea anyone out of Piedmont Broadband’s assets, but as far as access, Piedmont Broadband does not have access to assets it does not own.”
Some may remember when Gordon first arrived in the county in 2005. There was limited broadband capability - cable and DSL served only Washington and Sperryville - and people were unhappy with satellite service. It was expensive and not always reliable.
The Town of Washington hired Gordon, who then lived in the town, to update the town’s Web site. Several county residents hired Gordon to provide them with high speed access to the Internet. People were happy with the service and many gave Gordon high recommendations.
But then things began to go sour. Once happy and excited customers began to report that services they had paid for and expected were not fulfilled.
