Rappahannock County’s first
public celebration of St. Patrick's Day is history now, and what a happy chapter it was for all who took part in the day.
As the person who originally suggested the idea to the Rappahannock County Lions Club, I must say I was extremely gratified by the enthusiasm and support shown by so many for this new community celebration.
Participation in Saturdays parade though the town of Washington exceeded expectations, as so many local groups, individuals, fire and-rescue companies and others joined in the mygr^JDespifcg chilly, damp weather (typical of Ireland this time of year) there was no lack of spirit, color and enthusiasm among the marchers.
Thanks to the Rappahannock County High School marching band for its participation, and to all the groups and individuals— and their wonderful animals—for taking part.
