RAAC’s new Community Theatre, located in the former Ki Theatre on Gay Street in Washington, will engage in a broad range of performing arts, including theater productions, music, poetry and dance.
RAAC, an acronym for the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and Community, welcomes new participants whether or not a person has had experience in acting, directing or building sets.
Opening event
RAAC’s theater season begins with a gala March 28 at 7 p.m. to celebrate the opening of the new theatre. The program focuses on Rappahannock County and includes well known storytellers Nol Putnam, Donald Chandler and Peter Hornbostel, and exciting singers and musicians Linda Orfila, Lorraine Duisit, Linda Heimst'ra and Paul Reisler.
It also features a performance of Chekhov’s short play, “The Bear in Rappahannock” (with a mea culpa to the playwright who called it “The Bear” and set it in Russia), starring Stephani Mastri, Norm Getsinger and Howard Coon.
