Cheerleaders for the Faculty-Jaycee basketball game played Friday night were the faculty distaff: Miss Linda Oliver, Mrs. Phyllis Rees, Miss Rose Marie Dudley, Mrs. Kathryn Pomeroy, Mrs. Leslie Unger, Eric Unger and Miss Emma Jane Hensley. Some 50 men and boys, 41 of them Rappahannock County Boy Scouts, spent last Saturday picking up trash along the roadway and stream banks in the Washington and Sperryville area. The particular work areas were the portions of the Rush River, North Fork, Thornton River and Piney Branch that are stocked with trout. The scouts, representing all four Rappahannock County troops, this year as last, were the main contributors to this, a Rappahannock Jaycees project. The Highway Department must also be recognized for contributing a dump truck, and particularly Roy Atkins and Roger Atkins for driving and picking up trash from the boys. Terry Russell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emory Russell of Flint Hill received a “Superior Rating* award for his essay entered in the Future Business Leaders of America contest, awarded at the Madison regional meeting at Madison College March 22. Some 400 students attended the meeting, representing 24 high schools. This was the first year RCHS had entered the contest. Russell’s topic was “The Business Executive."
