Keeping the OR on track
In order for surgery’ to take place, our clinical staff needs to have the right medical supplies on hand. That responsibility lies with Karen Meadows, the inventory manager for our hospital’s operating room.
“To make sure our patients are taken care of, I have to make sure everything is ready on time,” Karen says. "I buy all of die supplies for the OR—everything from syringes to scalpels to monitors.”
Karen just finished a major project that involved moving the hospital's sterile supplies to a new room to free up space for OR equipment. The project involved coming in on the weekend, but Karen didn’t mind.
“I have a passion for inventory,” she says. "And I like being able to say I take care of our doctors, nurses, and techs when they need supplies.”
