James Merritt - a Rappahannock County resident and manager of the Hampton Inn in Warrenton - was appointed to Gordon's seat on the board.
The board then removed Gordon of all officer positions he had held at Piedmont, according to Shoemaker.
“Mr. Gordon is no longer on the board of directors nor is he an officer of the corporation,” Shoemaker said in an interview Tuesday.
