An order ‘was issued to obtain the tax re-assessment aide from Richmond. There was discussion of two items of Courthouse care; namely, screens for the windows in the courtroom, and removal of -a haiard at the front step of the building:. Routine bills were examined and allowed.
Following special request and much persuasion, W. C. Campbell donated his artistic creations— sometimes referred to as “doodling”—to the county newspaper. The masterpiece, created during the hours of the board meeting, now hangs on the wall in the News office. The public is invited.

According to the census report of Saturday, April 29, there had been 5,215 persons enumerated in the county. It is estimated that few have been omitted and the census may not be much more than this fgure.
In Hampton district there were 1458, with 245 of these in Washington, the county seat. In Hawthorne district, 25; Jackson, 938; Piedmont, 1008; Stonewall, 420; and Wakefield, 1365.
Piedmont district was the first to be completed, and the workers are hoping to complete the remainder by the first part of next week.
