There are occasions when justice descends upon a smart-aleck. A gentleman was passing along the street in a neighboring town. He saw a tall, red headed woman looking in the window of a shoe store. He spoke'quietly to the back of her head: “No use your looking at those sample shoeB, your feet are too big.” Whereupon the lady turned around—and he had never laid eyes on her before in his life! The story is told that a Russian visiting in Virginia some years ' ago made the statement that she couldn’t understand why anyone ■would want to go to Europe for a view of the scenery. It was her opinion that nowhere could be found a land^as beautiful as that of Virginia. Take a ride anywhere in Rappahannock county and you will agree with the lady. There seem to be more dogwoods on the Amissville road than before, or else the blooms are larger and whiter. The pink dogwoods are deeper in color. Redbud trees have more blooms and the hues are almost purple. A trip through the famous F.T. Valley will ride you through an apple orchard near Belle Meade school—a sight you should remember for many a day. In fact, you won’t have to pick any special spot in Rappahannock for extra beauty—right now it’s all over the county, every mountain and hollow.
