that he would stand at the ribbons, seemed to be that he must perlorm the job done by a mounted policeman at a large street parade. He was finally convinced that most people who attended a wedding knew what the ribbons meant. Then he decided that it would be a good idea to pass the hat. Some folks suspect that his uncle had put him up to that. Well, the wedding came off. (He didn’t pass the hat). But he refused to ride home, he had to walk by the homes of his playmates, so the kids could see him all dressed up and with that carnation. He modestly stated that he was “the sharpest looking thing there.’’ Maybe he inherited his modesty from his father.
