For Garden Tour
The Rappahannock Garden Club announees the following estates will be opened to the public for their tour on Friday, May 19.
The very lovely garden developed by Mrs. Glass at “Jasmin Hill” will be open. “Mont Medi," the charming ancestral home of the C. R. Hite family will be opened and tea will be served there. Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Hening will open the gaiden and part of their delightful home, “Apple Tree Cottage." Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Menefee will open “San Jacinto" for the tour. The handsome antique furniture there will he of equal interest wit) the lovely old home. The beautiful house and grounds at “Greenfield," home of Mr. ahd Mrs. J. Armistead Lewis, will also he open where the many fine paintings by the owner will be an added attraction.
The garden club is very grateful to these owners for so kindly and generously agreeing to share their property with us for this tour. The .theme of the tour is “Life in Early Rappahannock/’ It is believed that these estates typify the gracious and attractive way of life whether it be in a cottage or a mansion. ■ These places will be open for visitation from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 pin. on May 19, and hostesses will be present at each point., A modest admission of 30c including tax will be charged for each person at the various homes which wilLhe visited, for the benefit of the garden club.
