After these activities ended, the crowd was led to the back of the school where the 40-yard dash for girls, 60-yard dash for boys, and over-under relay were held.

The school winning most of the events was presented a large silver cup. Roger Roberts of Washington school, <won a victroy for the school when he came into the finish line at least two feet ahead of the second place runner. Washington also won the volley ball relay; therefore, the Washington school was presented the silver cup. Mrs. Dorothy W. Porter, principal of the school, and Mrs. Callie Roberts, primary teacher, were on hand to receive the cup.

A ball game was held at S:3P in the afternoon when Mr. Bescom Dobbins, principal of Norman school in Culpeper, brought his boys to play a team composed of five boys from Washington, two from Scrabble and one from Flint Hill and Amissville. The Rappahannock team won, 9=5. The highlight of the game was a home run by James A. Freeman, of Washington school.

The May Day was- very successful, and the teachers' association takes this opportunity to thank all parents, patrons, and friends who helped to make the affair a success. A special“thank you” is extended to Mrs. W. F. Moffett '•who so willingly and charmingly made our program of the morning a success. >

On Saturday, May 13, Washington school will play Norman school in a baseball game at Norman. This game will be under the supervision of Prln. Bascom Dobbins and Mrs. Dorothy Wade Porter.
