Spraying Tree Trunks
Advised For Peach BorerSpraying
peach tree trunks to control the peach tree borer is rapidly replacing older, more difficult methods of control.
M. L. Babb, associate entomologist at the Piedmont Field Station at Charlottesville, says that the trunk-spraying method is safe for trees of all ages, and also is time-saving and less expensive than the older methods.
(In the past, growers have used other methods—such as applying insecticides to the soil around tho base of the tree.)
The insecticide DDT now is recommended control material.
