The first aspect of any importance in Russian-American activity is that the two countries do not agree on the definition of the word democracy. Russia professes to be a democracy. We laugh very heartily at this, hut, theoretically, they are a democracy. The communists understand democracy to be a state of economic equality while nee think most strongly in the political sense. When Karl Marx said in his writings, “Rise up. All you have to lose are your chains,” he was speaking of the economic chains of the laboring class in Russia.
Secondly, the greatest ally of the communists is poverty. It is easy to understand how a devastated country becomes easy prey for the Kremlin. The Russians hate America and our engaging capitalism because we offer their only impediment. Because we are the land of plenty (of what?)* the security of the :whole world rests on United States aid to countries threatened by possible communist domination. We do not need one Marshall Plan; we need roughly fifteen; that is, fifteen such plans without their political strings attached. These poor people may lik^ to eat our bread, hut they would like to do it their own way. They have their own table manners and don't care to accept Washington’s. Who can blame them except our own despots?
The third aspect has to do with the very nature of the fighting in Korea. Whatevert heRussians— might want, they do not cherish the idea of a full scale war. In the future, there will probably be several sqch uprisings as the one in Korea today, and they will center around the heart of the continent. The reason for this is obvious. They would like to create fear and establish stability in the minds of their opponents. The truth is, they will be a lot more Successful using these procedures .than if there is an open declaration of war. Where is all of this leading if they do not plan to have a world war? Remember, the war of ideas, the war of materialism, the war to destroy Mammon, World War III, began before the second world war was officially ended. “ ■ ‘ The final thought is^wedo notunderstand the Russian people or the communistic way of thought. The Russians descended from the Mongolian tribes and a main characteristic of this race is that they will not admit defeat, or even one error. Therein lies the eventual downfall of communism. There are a great many intelleci tuals in Russia today and, even though their minds are Warped and perverted concerning the Party, they dote on the dgnorance of the American people—or. rather they think they do.
