Have Same Birthday

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Garrison Beid celebrated their birthday anniversaries, Tuesday, November 7.

Mr. Reid would probably tell how many years ago it was that the boy arrived in the Reid family, but it’s usually ticklish ground in asking such a question of a lady, so the story reads thus:

Just exactly (blank) years ago there arrived in the state of Virginia a baby boy and a baby girl, born the same day, November 7. The little girl arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Bradley in Luray and the local paper carried the birth announcement. -•“On the same day there was great excitement at the household of Joseph Reid in Flint Hill. When the baby' boy was born, it was announced that his name would be Charles Garrison, (He should have been born at Flint Hill, and'thereby goes one of the family jokes: •Mrs? Reid loved to be “on the go” and she was visiting in Warren bounty at the time the boy was born. The grandchildren love to tell that “Granny couldn’t even stay home long enough for Daddy to be born.”)

The boy and the girl grew up and were married when they were 23 years old. There is some comment on the suitability of this identical age in a marriage. A story is told of a couple where the wife was three days older than her husband and he never failed to tease her about it; said she was older than he and should have known better! At the Reid household there can never be any such argument.

There are now three boys and three girls to help their mother and father celebrate the one birthday. The boys are Joe, C. G., and Bobby; the girls are Mrs. Paul Miller, Mrs. Downing Wood, and Gladys Bradley. Joe has just won high scholastic honors at N. C. State; C. G. was recently heard from with the Merchant Marine in Brazil; and Bobby was last heard from with the army in San Francisco. Gladys, the baby of the family, is at Madison College; and the two married daughters are at their homes in Flint Hill and Harris Hollow.
