Virginia’s two National 'Forests, the George Washington and the Thomas Jefferson report a bumper crop of mast throughout their areas this fall. •*
The heavy yield of high Quality nuts on the bearing trees in the forests promises increased food for the wildlife of the area during the critical winter period of the year.
Some-o/ the original plantings made by the Game Commission at the beginning of the Federal-State Co-operdtive Forest Wildlife Plan are beginning to come into the bearing picture and gh'e promise of an increasingly greater food supply for wildlife in years to come.
The Commission planting program is not confined to the National Forest areas alone but is underway in all areas of the State in effder' to provide bitter food and cover for Virginia’s wildlife.
