According to the census last taken, Rappahannock can expect their tax rate to be raised about, fifteen or twenty cents on the hundred in order to take care of - money that they received from the A.B.C. Board on account of the decreased population in the county. Ton can expect your State and - Federal tut to be increased aboutone third in another year. Any Bond Issue that will go towards new buildings will increase your taxes about forty or fifty cents on the hundred. Therefore, any Bond Issue for new school buildings will increase your taxes about fifty cents on the hundred.
Hy understanding is that the last meeting of the Budget last year, they promised to take off the fifteen cents a hundred that the county was taxed for hiring ah outside man to assess the coun- ' ty property. Also that they would cut back any increase in assessed value to the old base. They stated that all they wanted to do was to equalize the assessed values.
The school superintendent said that if you would grant him a five cent increase on the assessed value last year that he would not isk for the nine thousand dollars that had been given him out of the General Fund to spend.
If all of these people who are teaching school are not satisfied <why don’t they quit and go to farming; I am sure there is lots of room for them to farm and theie would be plenty of. people glad to take their places.
