First in the processional were the primary king^and queen and their court: Carolyn Oates Turner as queen, George H. Davis, III as king, Shirley Smoot acted as maid of honor and maids were Betty Atkins, Nancy Weed, Myrla Updike, and Neville Wood. Crown prince was Billy Hawkins. Guards of honor were Ernest Eubank, Walter Hicks, Jflenry Taylor Updike, and Donald Atkins.
The high school May queen, king and court followed the primary. The queen was Barbara Brown; maid of honor, Peggy Ann Black; maids were Irene Jenkins, Gail Scott, Peggy Ann Green, Barbara Black, Shirley Williams, Lois Racer, Joan Brown, Christine Jenkins, Lois Walter, and Phyllis Updike. William Armentrout was king; crown prince, William Burke; guards of honor were Carlyle Lea, J. T. Dwyer, Marion Scott, Rodnfey Vest, Murphy Reid, F. D. Coffey, Harold Brown, Netwbill Miller, Dickie Walker, and Irvin Corbin.
After the coronation of the _queens there was a parade of the 5 pointers in front of the thrones and around the grounds. A may day carol was sung by the high school girls’ glee club. Betty Snead presented a 'bailed dance on the lawn.
The primary grades gave a dance called the “shoemaker dance’’. They also sang nursery rhyme songs. The eighth grade presented a folk dancje and the girls’ glee club sang “Early one morning” and “Summer Is a’eummin’ In.” At the close of the songs a tumbling act was given and the May pole was wrapped.
