F. T. Baptist Church was organized in the year 1778, with George Eve as her first pastor. The church was organized near Sharp Rock above Peola Mills. At the time, the land was in large beech trees, there out in the open these early Christians met to worship God. They did not* have a house of worship at this time. Being near the Old Rag mountain, the first name of this organization was “The Ragged Mountain Baptist Society.”
It is not known just when the organization moved to its present site or when the nam£ “F. T.” was given it The records'^ the Shiloh Baptist Association show that the church bore the name “F. T” as early as 1809. We also know from a deed recently discovered, that the congregation has owned its present property since 1816.
