Herein is an interesting sketch of the first pastor, George Eve. (For this, we are indebted to Mr. Claude Yowell of Madison, Virginia, who prepared a history of F. T. in 1928 when the church observed her 150th anniversary.) Mr. Eve was reared near Wolftown, Virginia. He became an^ordained minister in 1775 and became F. T.’s first pastor in 1778. He served F. T. until < 1788, and then left for Kentucky. There he helped to form the North Fork Church in Franklin County. He was a good minister and did much for F. T. Church. He was a personal friend of James Madison, who did so much to establish religious liberty in our country.

Sucl\is a brief history of the F. T. Baptist Church. It is impossible to write all that went on in the making of such an institution. F. T. has done much for the expansion of the Christian faith. She has given members to many of the churches in her area to help them get started as organized churches. It would be interesting and inspiring to have a complete record and the space to tell of all who have labored faithfully at F. T. to make this old church live and function, but that is impossible. After all, the fruits of their labors speak for them.
