Last year the county’s Garden Club tour included visits to “Jessamine Hill,” home of C. E. Marsh, on the Mount Salem road; “Greenfield,” home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Armistead Lewis, near Washington; “San Jacinto,” home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mercer Mene'fee, between Washington and Sperryville; “Apple Tree Cottage,” home of Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Hening, in Sperryville; and “Mont Medi.” home of Mrs. C. R. Hite and Miss Mary Elizabeth Hite, in the F. T. Valley.
The tour last year was enthusiastically attended and was the subject of much favorable comment. The five homes of the tour included three examples of restoration, “Jessamine Hill,” “San Jacinto,” and “Apple Tree Cottage,” and two homes which had remained in constant use through the years, “Greenfield,” and “Mont Medi.”
It is noted this year that the tour will center in the northern portion of the county, beginning at Sperryville and going to Huntly, while last year it began near Washington and went to the F. T. Valley in the southern part of the - county.
