The amateur program, held Saturday at Rappahannock High School, was declared a success. A portion of it was broadcast over • Culpeper station, WCVA, Sunday morning from 9 to 9:30, but the prize winners were not included on the program.

Mrs. Robert Massie and Lewis Turner did a short minstrel skit, pulling some jokes on local people in Washington, and threw some teasing toward the ladies’ council and the lady editor of the paper. They received the first prize check and immediately returned it to the Cancer Fund. j

Second j>rize'went to Mrs. Hel». an Smoot Miss Maty-Bttrfce; who sang a hill-billy song, and returned for dn encore. Mrs. Smoot, from Huntly, handles a guitar like an expert and has a style of singing distinctive and unusual.

Another portion of the program, which was not included in Che broadcast, was put on by a group of talented young people headed by John Stoutamyer. of Flint Hill.

Mrs. Alfred M. Hickman served as mistress of ceremonies.

Zeta Tau Convention*

Miss Lena IV^ae Green of Amissville, a junior at Madison College, who is secretary of Gamma Kappa Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha Social Sorority attended a Province Convention at the University of South Carolina April 27, 28 and 29.

Miss Green and the two other delegates accompanying her returned to school Sunday afternoon ‘by plane.

Mrs. Milton Gore assumed her duties as of May 1 as clerk typist in the cotinty health office. Mrs. Joe Henry Aylor, who resigned, will move to Arlington (where Mr. Ayloir has a position with the post office department.
