Frenchmen Are Guests
In Rappahannock
Albert Martin of Haggenbach, Haut-Rhin, and Guy deFeraudy of laRegnettierea, Tarigne Laille, Sarthe, France, will arrive in Rappahannock Monday afternoon and and will live with and work in the orchard of Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Wood. Both of the two young men arriving in Rappahannock were born and raised on a farm in France and have had experience in fruit and livestock,* production. While they will work on Mr. Wood’s farm, he will endeavor to teach them local methods of peach and apple production.
Under the International Youth Exchange program, four Frenchmen and one Dane will be placed on Virginia farms by the U. S. Dept, of Agriculture through the VPI Extension Service for a period of 5 weeks.
Under this program Virginia sent one young farmer to Denmark last year and Iwill send another from Rockingham to a European country this year.
The Danish boy will be located on a farm in Southwestern Virginia. While the four Frenchmen will be on fruit farms in Northern Virginia.
