Gun Accident Causes
Loss of Arm Use
Clarence Jordan of Flint Hill received a gun-shot wound in the upper part of the left arm while working on the Settle farm Saturday afternoon.
Mr. Jordan, who had been employed in cleaning out some brush, had killed several groundhogs la-'' tely and carried his gun with him when he cleaned up fence rows. Saturday, gun in hand, he tripped over some vines or twigs and received the full shot straight through the large muscle in .the upper left arm. He walked back to the house and James M. Settle carried him to the hospital in Front Royal for treatment.
Following the operation it was reported that Mr. Jordan will lose the lifting ability in the arm, although he is able to move his Ungers and grasp objects. Considering that there were powder burns across his chest over the heart, it seems a miracle' that he escaped with his life.
