Elmer Lillard has announced the purchase of the R. H. Scroggins property, home and woodworking shop and about 30 acres, located on the south side of Highway 211, across from Hampton fnn near Washington. The Rev. Mr. Scroggins, meanwhile is considering the purchase of a 300acre tract near Huntly.
Elmer Lillard (better known as “Snooks") sold his business at Amisville some time ago to Lloyd H. Llewellyn, who now operates “Mountain View TourisV’ Following the sale of the business, Mr. and Mrs. Lillard went to Tennessee, but local people say they got homesick for Rappahannock and couldn’t stay away any longer. Mr. Lillard has not announced his plana for use of the cinder-block workshop locatedT on the highway.
The Rev. Mr. Scroggin purchased this property in 1243 from W. C. Campbell for a reported sum of $3,000. It has been stated that Elmer Lillard paid 313,000 for the home, new workshop building and approximately 30 acres.
The -Rev. Mr. Scroggins is interested in the purchase of more grazing land, according to reports.

Funeral services for Mrs. Robert Nethers, 75, were held from Five Fork Baptist church Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock, with the pastor, Rev. Russell Thompson, conducting. Mrs. Nethers died at University hospital, where she had been a patient for ten days following a long period of ill health.
Besides her husband, James Robert Nethers, she is survived by five sons and three daughters: Clyde Nethers of Winchester, Mrs. Walter Burke and John Nethers of Woodville; Ashby Nethers of Front Royal, Mrs. H. Taylor Updike and Mrs. George Wood of Washington, and Robert and 'Henry Nethers of Washington, D.C.; eleven grandchildren, four brothers, and a sister.
Interment was in the Masonic cemetery at Washington.
